Play-2-Learn Dominoes – Empathy Counts – is a therapeutic and educational game developed to teach young people to understand the concept of empathy, to be empathetic, and to take positive actions towards others based on empathy. It is designed for children ages 7 to 12 years old and can also be used as high-interest material for older students. These guidelines can be used by therapists, teachers, counsellors in a school setting, or parents at home.

There are four decks of cards, each covering a different aspect of the players lives: Friendship, Activities and Hobbies, At School, and All about Myself.
Empathy is the ability to understand how others are feeling about issues. We often say that a person with empathy understands what it is like being in someone else’s shoes.
Empathy is essential for building lasting friendships and positive relationships with family members and adults. Empathy is a complex concept, and the skills required for empathy are not easy to learn.
This game takes an incremental approach, teaching basic skills and moving on to more complex skills.

The Yes Brain Workbook: Exercises, Activities and Worksheets to Cultivate Courage, Curiosity & Resilience In Your Child – Unlock your client’s innate capacity for resilience, compassion, and creativity. From Daniel J. Siegel, MD, and Tina Payne Bryson, PhD, the bestselling authors of The Whole-Brain Child, No-Drama Discipline, and The Power of Showing Up, comes the latest resource for parents, clinicians, and educators to nurture the positive potential in children. Expanding upon their acclaimed book The Yes Brain, this workbook companion continues to build on the skills needed to cultivate courage and emotion regulation in kids. The Yes Brain Workbook teaches caregivers how to cultivate a mindset in their children (and themselves!) that will encourage them to approach life with a “yes” state of mind. With an interactive format that includes worksheets, activities, self-reflections, and fun illustrations, parents will learn how to:

Put into practice the fundamentals of a Yes Brain – balance, resilience, insight, and empathy – and how to strengthen them in real-world scenarios
Recognize when kids need a gentle push out of a comfort zone vs. needing the “cushion” of safety and familiarity
Develop strategies to reduce negative behavioral and emotional states (aggression and withdrawal) and expand their child’s capacity for positivity

The Yes Brain Approach Teaches:

Flexibility and adaptability
Sound decision making and planning
Regulation of emotions and body
Personal insight
Empathy
Morality

The Empathy Card Game – Developed by Lawrence E. Shapiro, Ph.D. Children who understand how other people think and feel act more appropriately and enjoy richer social relationships. This card game helps players recognise the importance of empathy, a central component of emotional intelligence. As children try to read other players’ nonverbal cues and guess how they’ve responded to Question Cards, they practice this skill in a fun way. Compassion, understanding, and acceptance – all in one game!

*Includes a complimentary Building Empathy Ball* – Teach students about empathy with statements such as, “What would you say to show empathy to a new kid at school?” and “What does empathy mean?” Inflation size approximately 8 inches. Ball is latex free. Ball arrives deflated, pump required.
