This impressive file of full-colour photographs has been designed in response to the need for well-organised, realistic and flexible material for use in all aspects of language development, remediation and teaching. It is one part of the larger ColourLibrary range which together form a rich resource of essential vocabulary in a visual format. The items selected for inclusion represent vocabulary central to the needs of both adults and children. Together ColourLibraries provide a bank of hundreds of cards which may be used either from a single pack or from a two or more packs across the range. Just select from this vast collection the cards that are relevant to the current teaching program. ColourLibraries are file boxes containing 96 cards that are divided into six categories, designed to create a rich resource of essential vocabulary.

The cards can be used effectively to enhance a range of language skills. For example: Developing Verbal Comprehension Encouraging Expressive Language Vocabulary Building Classification Developing Communication Skills. A superb set of cards that does not rely on packaging to identify a range of food items. The cards can be used as a starting point for conversation by sorting them into their various categories and then lead to a multitude of activities at various level of difficulty, for example, ‘Show me the bread’ or ‘Which one is made with flour?’ The categories are: Fruit – apple, orange, pineapple Vegetables – cabbage, leeks, potatoes Basics – bread, flour, eggs Prepared Food – curry and rice, steak and chips, pizza Drinks – beer, coffee, water Snacks – hot dogs, crisps, ice cream.
