Product overview
The A-Z of Primary Maths is a compendium of great ideas for teaching mathematics, organised around the 26 letters of the English alphabet. ‘Maths foundations must be built in our primary schools. We need to create space for children to play with numbers, to explore patterns, to solve problems, and to laugh and chat in maths lessons. It’s this start that will build a lifelong love of and confidence in maths’ – Kate Frood.
Author Biography
Kate Frood retired from primary headship in 2021 after almost four decades of working in primary schools in central London. Her second headship was at Eleanor Palmer Primary in Camden, which became a National Teaching School in 2012. Despite a first degree in English and a master’s in children’s literature, Kate began teaching mathematics throughout her two headships. She developed a specialism in – and a love of – teaching mathematical reasoning and problem-solving. Up until her retirement, Kate taught two weekly maths lessons. Kate has inspired children, teachers and parents to love maths and has taken an uncompromising approach to learning ‘the basics’.
