A Day in the Life is an educational board game designed to teach important social and communication skills. It is designed for students in grades 5-8, but can be used as high interest material for older students. Alison is an eighth grader, and the story line take her through typical problems faced by a middle school student. Students will learn how to: Be assertive, yet respectful Disagree while maintaining the other person’s self-esteem Show empathy Press others for specifics Support their position with facts Included with the game is a colour poster listing the communication skills. Teachers are encouraged to put up the poster in the classroom and keep it up for the purpose of continued reinforcement of the communication skills. Players: 2-5 players (more with team play)

Time requirements: Below is the estimated time for the use of A Day in the Life as an educational game. It normally will take two class periods. The class periods can be separated. The actual playing of the game will be interrupted at the end of the first class period.
